These tiles are digitally printed in ceramic colours from the children's original artwork on paper. The design refers to the trees which were cleared to allow construction of the new building and after which the four classrooms are named: Spruce, Willow, Rowan and Beech, with all the artwork created by the nursery children themselves. Included are portraits of school staff (far left image).

The panel includes four trees, surrounded by handprints from the very youngest children, thumbprint figures by slightly older pupils and self-portraits by the oldest children. The school crest, lettering and foliage tiles complete the panel. The dark timber framework, installed by the school's caretaker prior to tile fixing by Susan & Douglas, frames and unifies the ceramic images and introduces a third dimension to the tile panel.

At the opening ceremony, teachers, parents, governors and architects agreed that this tile panel is a relevant and decorative entrance feature to complement the innovative architecture of the new nursery school. The ceramic permanence of this commemorative panel has captured a significant moment in the life of the school.
